Porcelain figures photographed at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), London.

In many ways the photographs of the porcelain figures taken at the V&A are about being close without actually touching. Through the camera lens I was able to isolate the figures in their showcases, thereby allowing gesture, formal relationships in terms of line and space, as well as coloration to unfold. Each figure evokes an historical presence, whereas its pose reminds us of contemporary physical expression.
The images quiver between abstraction and depiction, between past and present.
