Vik Muniz uses unusual material, such as chocolate syrup, nails and sand to create an image, which he then photographs. He is above all a great experimenter who makes use of a range of expressive mediums (e.g. painting, design, sculpture, photography) in his research to represent mass produced objects or to reinterpret figures and icons which come from the collective store of cultural and artistic knowledge (L'Origine du monde by G. Courbet and Electric Chair by A. Warhol).
